NPV - Tutorial - Preface

Foreword

This guide will expect that readers have a certain minimal level of Cyberpunk 2077 mod creation experience. Though I have done my best to be thorough and clear, there will likely still be portions of the process which presume that base level of knowledge, and during these portions entirely novice mod creators may struggle. When all else fails, I can only encourage you to read the steps again, to keep at it, and to seek assistance when you need it. There is always help available - do not be afraid to ask.

With each iteration of the guide, I've accumulated a bit more know-how, had a bit more practice, and gotten help from a few more people. For this reason, I'd like to think that each iteration of the guide has been better than the last and that I have, as time has gone on, become rather efficient at troubleshooting the process. Still, I cannot promise that the methods or information contained in this guide will be without flaws, or that I will be able to quickly resolve every issue brought to me. I'd like to try, though.

If you find errors in this guide or are looking for assistance, please feel free to contact me. I'll be glad to fix any issues with the site, or to take a look at your project and offer advice, help identify the cause of some trouble, or point you in the right direction to continue.

Note: This version of the NPV guide is still in the development stage, and should not be shared. Errors may still exist, and additional work will be needed before this guide is ready for the public.

Credits

Quite simply, there is no way I would have been able to produce this guide, or continue to update it and its resources, or provide adequate support for its users, if I were on my own, so I think it's important to give thanks here for the many people that have been involved in one way or another.

Thank you first to the community- to those in the Cyberpunk 2077 Modding and Cyberpunk 2077 Modding Community and Cyberpunk 2077 Appearance Menu Mod Discord servers, to the tutorial writers and knowledge sharers and tip givers, to everyone who passed on a little bit of information, or a lot, or even just a bit of encouragement. I wouldn't have been able to put together this guide if a whole lot of folks hadn't been willing to give a little (or a lot) of their time to help teach others.

Thank you to the tool makers and facilitators, to the team behind CP77Tools and Wolvenkit, to alphaZomega, and to all the others that have put in the work to make it less confusing, frustrating, and headache-inducing to mod this game. And thank you to MaximiliumM, as the Appearance Menu Mod's Custom Entity feature has made the NPV creation proccess in particular less of a struggle and more of a free-form creative process.

Thank you to everyone who has helped to make these resources, or their precursors. In particular, thank you to: Zink, for creating the original 50 slot buffer; PinkyDude, for creating a a fantastic set of complementary resources; Manavortex, for providing the script which eased remaking the resources and the script for automating the skapekey process; Bean-chan, for proofreading and providing invaluable insight on formatting this guide in a clear manner; Silvay, for creating a supplementary tutorial for those using WolvenKit; 86maylin, ferret, and Nola Dreamer, for providing tips and insights on helpful parts to add to or streamline in the process.

Thank you to my friends in this community. Modding (and Cyberpunk) can be a headache and a half, and I would have laid down my mouse long ago if it weren't for you all. Thank you to Bubble-bones, for her endless patience as I was first determining whether this whole NPV mess was even possible, way back when, and for providing all the motivation I needed for us to be able to get our Vs into each other's games. Thank you to Bean-chan, for the aforementioned proofreading, but also for the encouragement and appreciation as I worked through keeping this all up to date, and, of course, for all the worms. Thank you to JSilverhvnd, for listening to me whine and fret as I worked through this latest round of upgrades to the process, for cheering on and enabling even my most over-the-top ideas, and for an incurable case of blorbo brainrot. And thank you to all the rest, all the folks who bring out the sunshine and love in my little corner of the internet.

Now, let's make an NPV...
